
Overview
Julien Compère holds a Master's degree in Law complemented by his training at the University of London. He began his career in the competition law field before becoming, first, Adviser to and then Head of the Walloon Minister for the Economy, Jean-Claude Marcourt's cabinet.
In 2021, Julien Compère took over as CEO of FN Herstal Group, the world-renowned Walloon arms manufacturer. In June 2024, the company changed its name from Herstal Group to FN Browning Group.
FN Browning Group is owned by the Walloon Regional Council. Its Security and Defence Division manufactures and markets light weapons, munitions and more sophisticated weapons systems.
The Walloon group employs more than 3,000 people and has seven production sites located in Belgium (Herstal and Zutendaal), Portugal, Finland, the United States and the United Kingdom. In 2023, it generated consolidated sales of €908 million and net income of €75 million.
In recognition of his leadership and contribution to strengthening the European defence industry, Julien Compère was nominated for the Manager of the Year 2024 award by Trends-Tendances magazine.
Julien Compère continues to guide the FN Browning Group towards excellence, focusing on innovation, quality and customer satisfaction in the defence, security, hunting and shooting sports fields.
