Overview
Maryse BURGOT is a strong-willed, enthusiastic and passionate woman who has covered the biggest conflicts of our times.
The daughter of Breton peasants, she quickly left that life behind. She will be coming along to talk to us about her many journalism missions covering all the world’s conflicts, up to the time she was taken hostage for 7 weeks in the Philippines in 2000.
For Maryse BURGOT, untiringly providing her eye-witness accounts of conflicts is second nature!
She says she's not addicted to war, and, although she does like to return to the fold on occasion, she always feels the need to set out again.
Constantly in high-risk regions, she confesses she is seldom afraid, not in a far corner of the world anyway, rather knowing that her sons are on their scooters in Paris.
As a war reporter, she has 3 very important missions: to gather information, to investigate that information and, above all, to verify its authenticity.
Standing five foot two, having worn a bullet-proof waistcoat and a helmet for 35 years, Maryse BURGOT will tell us about her joys, the incredible emotions she feels, her panic-stricken fears, her victories as well as her misgivings and the sacrifices she has made.
She will tell us how the life story of a provincial girl from a modest background can be an inspiration to our young people, who often find the next rung on the social ladder is missing.
